Derek started Waterfowl Hunting at the age of 10 with his Dad Duane. He has spent all 24 years living in northeastern South Dakota enjoying the vast outdoor activities with friends and family. Derek grew up Hunting Ducks, Geese, Pheasants, and Deer around his home town of Brookings. He met Terry Wendler, another Team Decoy member, while attending college and they formed THF Inc.  THF Inc. is a group of Extreme Waterfowlers who all have the same passion and love for Waterfowl Hunting. Derek hunts mostly in northeast South Dakota area where he can find the Honkers in the fields along with Mallards and the Diver Ducks on the big lakes like Waubay Lake.

 When Derek isn't training his new Yellow Lab Ace, you can find him behind his desk managing a fitness center in Watertown, SD. Derek and Terry are just starting to venture into the guiding world to share there passion for Hunting with many others. "Excited to be apart of TEAM DECOY and the Decoy Outdoors Family!"
